We are preparing to get into the Christmas celebration mood proper, just as we have done over the years. Let's take a moment to consider the reason for the season: Jesus Christ. EVEN THOUGH SOME religious and individual persons challenge the actual date for the birth of Christ. It is a accepted fact that Jesus' earth walk on earth is a historical reality.

Jesus is a unique personality. From the first human being that was created till the last human that will be born, Jesus stands out. Several things make him incomparable to all others.

John 1:1-3 In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

Without pre-empting what we think this scripture means, let be patient with this scripture. There was a personality in the beginning. This person was with God, and this person was God. Who is this person? The Word.

Revelation 19:11-13 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

The same writer of John also wrote Revelation. He makes a very interesting observation again in the above scripture about a white horse rider who is called Faithful and True, and his name is called The Word of God.

Let this be clearly established that there is a divine personality who goes by the name: the Word of God. Just as you naturally respond when your name is mentioned, this person also answers to the name The Word of God or the Word.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

That divine personality in heaven was made flesh or human being. So before this person was made a human being to live with us, he existed in the heavens with the name, The Word of God.

Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

The question is, why was the Word made into a human being?

1. To fulfill a prophecy or divine declaration made thousands of years earlier.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

This scripture was pointing to the seed of the woman (a child that will be brought forth without the involvement of the male human species)

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Luke 1:31,34 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

2. Apart from Adam and Eve, the first human species on earth, birth remains the only legal means of entering life on earth as human beings and animals.

Birth and death are the entrance and exit to this life on earth. However, sometimes some other personalities have walked on planet earth without being born. Those persons missed the privilege of being human beings, which by scriptural injunction placed a cap on their ability to fully use any form of powers they possessed not having the authority (the legal right to use the potential or ability)

Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion…"

Only human beings have the dominion, authority or legal right from God to determine how things go on earth. Any other personality that comes here needs the cooperation of man to do business here on earth.

3. Jesus needed his own physical body.

Hebrews 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me.

It was through the process of birth that the Word was made flesh. It's important to note that the word did not come to possess someone else's body. Because of the sacredness of his mission, he required his own body, which he legally gained through birth.

4. He had to identify fully with the object of his mission: human beings.

Hebrews 2:14-16 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

The redemption of human beings was his ultimate assignment, and it was just proper to identify fully with us.

As I mentioned earlier, several things make Jesus incomparable with all other humans. Apart from his pre-human existence, he was also brought forth by a virgin. Let us consider the relevance of that. It was not just about 'show godship', as always, there is always a higher purpose and deeper wisdom in God's acts.

All human beings, after the disobedience of Adam, came under spiritual death. There was a corrupt satanic nature that came to live in every human being, including the most morally clean human.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned

Romans 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

Spiritual death reigned from Adam to Moses. Moses is mentioned here interestingly because he represented the Jewish race, which is by far the unique breed of people on earth, with the highest order of national laws received directly from God. Even these people had spiritual death reign over them, Joseph and Mary inclusive.

Joseph, the would-be foster father of Jesus, was a just man and Mary was a virgin, but under the old covenant, they were still under the corruption of spiritual death. Anyone born by the coming together of such calibre of high morally upright parentage will still not escape the spiritual death verdict. Ro 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. The best of religious group founders are also victims. I'll show you why Jesus is in a class of his own.

If Mary had gotten pregnant by Joseph, or any other human, his seed (sperm), would have been carrying the corrupt blood, Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, victimizing the unborn baby with the same sin nature.

Matthew 1:18,20 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Joseph gave Mary all the emotional support she required, but was not biologically involved with the pregnancy. Matthew 1:24-25 Then Joseph, being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

Pregnancy and conception are God's wisdom: how the sperm of man fertilizes the ovary of a woman for a human heart to be formed, bones, cells, tissues, organs and functional systems of the human to be formed in a woman's womb within nine months, it will remain a mystery to us.

If the Spirit can do all that, what prevents him from causing conception in a virgin?

The Word was made flesh

The Word (John 1:1) is the seed (Luke 8:11)

1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Lu 1:28-38 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women

And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Mary, by the obedience of faith, received the Word (seed/sperm) and conceived just as it was told her.

If Mary had corrupt sinful blood just like anyone else born of humans, did baby Jesus not stand the risk of receiving the blood of her mother defeating God's agenda of bringing into this world a unique human being who was not under the dominion of Satan's nature?

There is enough scientific evidence that the mother's blood never mixes with the foetus during pregnancy. By this divine orchestration, baby Jesus, the Word turned human being will make it to this earth without the touch of the spiritual corruption of human being.

Oxygen and nutrients from the mother's blood are transferred across the placenta to the fetus through the umbilical cord. This enriched blood flows through the umbilical vein toward the baby's liver.

One of the placenta's jobs is to make sure blood from the mother and fetus never mixes. The placenta acts as an exchange surface between the mother and the fetus. Nutrients and oxygen are passed over by diffusion only. ... If the mother and the fetus had different blood types, they might both die if their blood mixed.

Finally, out of the billions of humans on the earth, one unique person can stand fearlessly before the devil and can boldly declare:

John 14:30 "… for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me."

He is the Word who was in the beginning, who was with God and who was God made human. The one who made all things became a human being, and we saw his glory as the only begotten Son of God. There was no better description than we could have given him.

In conclusion, see 2021 Christmas in a different light. Be empowered to shake off any hold of darkness over any area of your life.

Be blessed and a very merry Christmas to you.
